Starks and McClain would be nice. I think it's time to focus on resigning Carr, Flowers, Hali and Bowe.

We for sure need a vet #2 QB for the entire season. Cut Palko and sign one.

Always could use more depth on the lines and at LB in a 3-4.

Pioli said the other day they were still looking at WR.

Some may want to push Thomas Jones out the door but I don't see it happening. To much man love from Haley.

Why do we need a washed up, never gonna be, backup vet QB?

He is pretty one dimensional. Solid run blocker, but as a pass protector he has his share of struggles against the speed rushers.

I disagree.

Richardson has the tools to be an elite pass protector, and if you watched closely, there were plays when he looked like the best RT in the game.

His problem is, and always has been, focus.

If he could maintain his focus and give full effort each and every play, he would lock down the position for the next 10 years.

We need to bring in a starter quality RT to compete, because you can not rely on Richardson to maintain any consistency unless you can find a way to keep him focused.

I just don't think you can depend on either of the young guys being ready to step in and contribute right away. Sheffield coming back from injury and Houston being on such short time.

I've seen nothing that would indicate Studebaker is anything more than a backup/special teams player honestly.

Maybe the Chiefs don't need McClain. I suppose I could live with Thomas Jones for another season. It would make Trent Richardson an exciting possibility in next year's draft. Let's say we're picking in the late teens into the 20s.

Chiefs Pantalones 08-02-2011 09:37 PM

I hope. We still have holes that need to be adressed IMO.

Red Coater 08-02-2011 09:37 PM

What about saftey. We only have Mcgraw.

I am not a Richardson fan, but this post is a homerun evaluation of how he should be dealt with.

When he was pulled last year, it seemed to light a fire under his ass and I think if there was legit competition for his job, he would continue to play like a player with a fire under his ass.

It could backfire, but if it does he really isnt the guy we wanted all along anyways.

When I was there Sunday (admittedly, very small sample size), he was working with the RBs.

I've heard Starks is extremely out of shape. I really doubt that would fly with the current regime.

Thats his problem he lacks discipline. If he had that, I'd be pretty content with him. His problem is more mental than anything. For me, as a fan, it bothers me to see inconsistent performances from players. But nothing is more frustrating than seeing inconsistent performances from offensive lineman.

If a player wants to be successful, he has to perform on a consistent basis. Anything less is unacceptable imo. If he is inconsistent, it pretty much defines him as a failure. There were times when he played well, and then there were times when he really sucked. What bothered me was that he sucked as the season went on. That shouldn't happen. It should be the opposite.

I can understand he is a young football player. I also understand football is a physical game, and as the season goes on, one's own body can wear down.
But if his issue is losing focus as the season goes on, to me thats a bad sign. It shows that he lacks mental toughness. He can have all the technique and tools in the world to be an all-pro, but, if he doesn't have it mentally, then thats a real problem imo.

I'll root for the guy and I sure hope he can develop into a good one. We'll see. Only time will tell.

Well whatever you've seen from Studebaker...
We've seen EVEN LESS from Sheffield and Houston.

Donte Whitner or Dashon Goldson

He doesnt lack discipline IMO.

He lacks the knowledge as to WHO to block when teams chose to overload his side in a blitz.

When he does block someone, he eliminates him from the play...but when he gets confused, he simply doesnt block the right guy and Cassel gets pummeled.

Thats what I saw anyway.

He is young, and some people mature later than others.

Last year he seemed to start to show signs of just starting to mature, but still fell back into bad habits.
