The fraud is Matt Cassel. It's Pioli first and stupidest ****ing move and alot of us knew it the day it happened. Februay 28, 2009 is the darkest day in Chiefs history, bc we are actually building a championship roster with a shitty QB leading us.

yeah, except Haley never hired him as his DC...he was hired as a defensive coach with a title to be named later.

He was only named the DC once Romeo turned Pioli down for the job in 2009 because he wasn't healthy enough.

...

I think its laughable how some here seem to get a stiffy from talking about the Chiefs losing games over the course of rebuilding years by a greater margin than back in the perennial 9-7/10-6 years.

FFS people...teams quarterbacked by Matt Cassel and missing 4 of its best players are gonna lose some ugly games.

Does he play defense?

No but our all pro safety who is out for the year does.

I think Berry is the biggest loss this year in terms of what it keeps us from doing.

No but he's the leader of the 3 n out offense. An offensive scheme that specializes in giving opposing teams more possessions throughout a game.

A real game-changer I tell ya. Can't believe someone hasn't thought of that before.

Losing Berry, as O. pointed out is big.

And Crennel's bend but don't break scheme in a league with rules that favor offence so heavily is an outdated plan that is asking to be abused.

Good point, Crennel is part of the problem, too.

BossChief 11-09-2011 09:53 PM

Notice in micd up that some of the players were talking about the scheme as being part of the problem on the defense against Miami.

Haley returns with something like "the scheme is not the problem"

It was pointed out in a different thread, but losing Berry with teh shit we now have to put in the back 7 has greatly affected our defense on multiple levels.

Berry allowed Lewis to pretty much play center field all the time and move around more. With Berry back there it was alot easier to bring 5 or 6 on a blitz as he could get to places that McGraw or whoever can't get too.

If Clay were our GM we would have different coaches daily. I think coaching makes a difference but at some point, players have to be held accountable.

O.city 11-09-2011 09:58 PM

I would hate to see Clay if our organization was run like the Cowboys or the Faid. He'd be on the ledge all the time.

milkman 11-09-2011 09:59 PM

If your scheme and lack of talent in key areas lead to your defense to giving up points, you're going to get blown out if you have a liability at QB and you can't respond with points of your own.

Less than bad does not equal good.

This.

I think a playmaking safety has become the most important position on a defense. Maybe a close second to pass rusher. Berry just brings so much versatility to that spot. He can play like a 5th LB on 1 and 2 down and cover on 3, and he is athletic enough to make up for mistakes when he makes them.
