Perhaps he feels that if he can't speak the language of another country he may consider migrating to, he should not be there.

Eh it's defensible. Star Spangled Banner is an adapted drinking song that just happened to fit Key's lyrics. It's not like it was always the anthem anyway.

If I were in charge there'd be two National Anthems: America the Beautiful in peacetime and SSB when in declared war.

ok I'll bite.

He sounds like he loves his country enough to stand up, in this case sit down, to what he thinks is wrong and respects the songs enough to recognize to not stand up for a song that represents a government corrupt far beyond our control. Until the government is for the people and not their own agenda will standing up for the song mean something to him and many others.

I really think we should change out national anthem to something fun and catchy. Are other nations going to hate us if we have a national anthem like Chantilly Lace by the Big Bopper? Or maybe if you want something patriotic, The Battle of New Orleans by Johnny Horton?

Since they hate us anyway, I think we should change it to TNT by AC/DC.

How about Barbara Ann by the Beach Boys, only sing "Bomb Iran" instead?

Rain Man 05-23-2012 10:21 AM

Now of course, if we learn our lesson from the old anthem being hard to sing, we can go for an easy to sing song. Perhaps "We Will Rock You" by Queen. I think it works on a number of levels. Can you imagine how the other countries will cower in fear at stadiums of Americans singing that song in wartime?
