Nope. It won't be. They told me the copper lines run on the street I currently live on, but not on the street I'm moving to.

typically they run fiber to the neighborhood then from there, copper to the home. in new homes and some multi-unit dwellings, they bring fiber right in to the prem. either way is pretty good.
what's your u/d rate going to be?

Yea, mostly its fiber to the street and copper to the house from there. Ive had Uverse for close to 5 years now and love it. and yes technically Uverse is DSL (ADSL). Its just all wrapped up into one package with your video service.

I'm excited about that...
Dropbox will be my bestest friend now.

Internet speeds are never exact.

I believe he meant the upload/download rates. Do you have the 12Mbs service?

I completely over looked the "u/d" part.
Hahaha.

12mbps.
I'm currently at 3mbps.

Can I connect wirelessly to the U-Verse modem or will I still need my router?

You will use the U-Verse modem for your wireless connection.

Be sure to find out how to change the password to connect to wireless because the default one is a bitch to type/remember.

I don't recall offhand how to do that, but it's not that difficult.

Awesome!

I'll call customer service to find out how to change the wireless password.
Thanks.

Yes you can. Heres a good UVerse forum. If you post a question, thre are usually a few AT&T techs on there.

AT&T has their own official forum as well, but its more sanitized.

I'm good to go then.

I should receive the modem in the mail today.
Service will be on by 8pm tonight.

I won't be in the new place until Saturday though.

Micjones 08-23-2012 09:51 AM

Just got my modem!

Too bad I'll have to wait for a few days to set it up.
I'd like to see how beneficial this faster service will be.

I have some big studio files to upload to my Dropbox folder soon.
Shit took FOREVER (several hours) last time using the Desktop version.

BigRedChief 08-23-2012 05:02 PM

I loved UVerse. 4X faster than DSL and 1/4 the price. You can record 4 programs at once. I miss the TV but I'm getting 40meg for $30 a month now.

Theres a big UVerse thread in the media center.
