Think it would have to be Quinn if they were going to rest Cassel for the entire game. I don't think they will though, since they are working with a new playbook.

Even if Cassel plays I can't imagine he'll play more than 1 or 2 series.
So they'll still split probably 3.5 quarters.

not really ... Smith was used more as a DE than a NT before for us.


It would probably mean that Amon Gordon would get cut.

Smith is 31
Gordon is 30

Smith is 30lbs heavier and has been more productive in his career. He has also been more of a problem in his career. :shrug:

A couple of years ago, the roster was being rebuilt and had no depth, so a journeyman like Smith was an upgrade. Now he's two years older, with a failed stint on a different team. I don't really think he would be an upgrade to some of the young guys at this point.

Also, they normally only keep two NTs so I think Poe might take the place of the DE/NT swing player that Smith was.

depends on how many guys they are keeping


If it's Poe/Powe vs Smith ... then i think you keep the young guys.


If it's Gordon vs Smith then whomever Crennel prefers, don't really care.

it's whether coach thinks he can keep Smith on the right path.

I don't even think Gordon has a spot on this roster.

DEs - Dorsey, Jackson, Bailey, Pitoitua, Bair
NTs - Toribio, Powe, Poe

They aren't going to carry 7.

The 6th spot will go to either Powe, Pitoitua or Gordon.

I hope the last spot goes to Powe. We don't know what he can be yet.

That was 8.....and I honestly think they'll keep 7.

Probably Dorsey, Jackson, Toribio, Bailey, Pitoitua, Powe and Poe.
