Because he left Pioli in charge of getting the Man and when he asked his agent what kind of $ said QB was going to want Mr. Pioli said no Thanks.

Thats where it started and ended. If we would have put up bucks maybe Peyton would have come in for a tour, maybe not. But he wasn't gonna play for Pioli peanuts.

Control....SP did not care about the money, it was not his.

Having a QB that could play and would be popular was not his idea of having control.

Meh, I'm more than willing to let Manning fail with the Broncos and try to build something here. Yes, it was a depressing trash year, but changes happened that are undeniably exciting.
