lol. Cockmon is a persistent troll, but not the most talented I've ever seen.

Fantastic attitude from Albert. This pretty much proves he isn't going to make anything close to unreasonable contract demands... which means there is no excuse for us not to resign him. (Well, not true, if there is some medical condition we don't know about... but I think that is a long shot remote possibility.) The fact is... EVEN if you had an ALL WORLD left tackle coming out this year in the draft (and there isn't anything close) you don't let an above average (and if Milkman is correct, ascending) LT with a great attitude walk away when you have so many other needs.

Branden Albert even said on twitter that his back is fine. And if he were in a playoff game he would be playing. Said it was the first time it has ever happened to him.

I also like that he basically admitted that he sucked every year except his rookie season and last year. AND he didn't make excuses. That also lends credence to Milkman's argument that Albert hasn't yet reached his ceiling.
(And I know he didn't really SUCK, but sucked compared to the level of play he should have been at) I find it hard to wrap my head around a scenario now where he doesn't resign. |

How's the saying go
When they say it's not about the money, it's always about the money |
However I truly see Branden Albert as a guy who cares more about the sport than the money.
Geno Smith said if he could play for free he would. |
If the Chiefs think his back will hold up, he'll be Chief in 2013.
We'll probably also have Geno Smith under center. |

I hear Albert is demanding big money. Haven't read any reports myself, but people have referenced it. I don't think that's the case at all. He sounds like a guy who is perfectly willing to take a hometown discount. I think the rumors of wanting big money were from impatient journalists trying to explain why his contract negotiations are taking so long, especially with a guy who wants to be here. Answer is, Dorsey and Reid haven't fully evaluated the situation yet(cap, tag, FA, draft), and are more worried about the draft right now.

He's a team player and should be a priority to retain. There is no reason not to pay him and move on.
