As long as there's no talk of an extension with A. Smith, I'm ok with the trade. Make him earn that extension.

OH yeah, and draft Geno #1 to light a fire under him.

I don't think its a coincidence that Bowe wouldn't sign until we had a new QB. That was probably the only stipulation he made when the new regime came in. Take care of that position first, and I'm good to go...

Alex Smith was the first domino... Two big signings and a franchise tag left tackle (who should be pretty damned happy he's getting top 5 money at that position, even for just a year), and we are well on our way.

Sassy Squatch 03-04-2013 04:55 PM

Yeah. Take 34 off the table and make it their move.

Garcia Bronco 03-04-2013 04:56 PM

The deal is not official. So yes, the Chiefs can back out right now if they wish

OrtonsPiercedTaint 03-04-2013 04:56 PM

Missouri does have a Lemon Law.

Who leaked the trade story anyways? Us, or them?

If we didnt go around confirming it, I dont see why it would be an issue if we were to back out. Both parties knew it was unofficial until the 12th.

This. Do it in retaliation for leaking the story, and make it clear why.

Then pick him up as a free agent for half price.

Some team needs to come in with an even stupider offer and save us from our own genious.

In58men 03-04-2013 05:00 PM

Reid and Dorsey wouldn't want their name damaged in Frisco. Backing out would put a bitter taste in the mouths of the 49ers. I would think they would turn the cheek if Chiefs were wanting to negotiate a future unknown deal

BossChief 03-04-2013 05:00 PM

If we were to back out now, good luck with any teams ever proposing "in principle" trades with us.

We are stuck with Alex as a 2 year stopgap.

DaneMcCloud 03-04-2013 05:01 PM

What makes today any different than yesterday in terms of this trade?

:hmmm:

Even if the future deal was in their best interest?

take 34 off the table and offer up Cassel instead lol
since everyone nationally thinks Cassel isn't that bad and just needed more weapons.

Molitoth 03-04-2013 05:03 PM

It wouldn't be a dick move... the 49ers are blatantly ripping the chiefs off.
Right now the 49ers are making the dick move.
