I've gone from collecting most cards to now collecting only limited rookie cards, autographs or jersey cards of current players and a very select few older players, usually rookie cards. I really enjoy collecting autograph memorabilia (baseball) more so now and if I plan to buy some collectibles in the future, I'll probably go that route over cards. |

I have a collection. Pre 1970's stuff mostly but I have several of the '89 Griffeys too. Ive backed off quite a bit lately but there was a time where I wasnt constantly buying and trading. Im sort of a big deal.

There are a lot of people out there who put together graded sets--a set with every card graded. They try for a 10 of every card. The stars aren't that hard to get with a 10. But the commons--they are extremely rare because people don't want to risk the grading fees to have Jamie Quirk graded. So, sometimes on ebay you'll see commons from the 80s, especially Fleer and Donruss which were hardly ever centered correctly, graded 9.5 or 10 and sell for $100s. Not that you're wrong, but I found that interesting. |

I gave a bunch of Griffey Jr rookies to a Planet member. I gave tubs full of HOF player cards to sell, rookies, quality stuff, sets etc. and we would split the money 50/50. They couldn't sell any of it.
I just don't have room for it anymore. |

I have one of the worlds meanest Barry Sanders collections.
It will be passed down through generations... where hopefully it will be worth something again. At the time when I stopped, Beckett prices had me at 5k+ |

I got an Upper Deck '89 complete factory set sealed for my 11th birthday. The one that includes Griffey's rookie. I believe it is card #1. Twenty years later, it's worth less than the day I got it.
****ing bullshit. |

We bought a Jerry Rice rookie for $120 in the 90's. It's now worth a whopping $30! My dad and I easily lost thousands but we enjoyed collecting together, which they say is priceless. :hmmm: |

It took him forever, but he finally surpassed Emmitt Smith prices... and then then it all tanked. As far as WHAT I have... I'm not sure what is relevant anymore... but I can say I have over 500 DIFFERENT sanders cards. My goal was to get 1 of every Barry card I could find, but obviously once the card companies started production a gazillion offbrands at $10 a pack and all the rare cards, this was impossible as a teenager. I did make a big dent though... |
