Just putting it out there. |
A proper Thanksgiving meal should be served sometime from 3:00 to 4:00. It's neither lunch nor dinner, it's a meal that needs no label - the most important meal of the year.
|
Well, early responses indicate lunch is actually the usual time for most people. I was in college before I even had any idea at all that we might be doing it wrong. Now, years after that, I guess this might confirm it. I'm going to have to re-examine some things in my life now.

I'm excited and ready for four days off!
|
I get one day off and have be back at work at 5:30 am.
Who the **** comes to a car dealership at 5:30 in the morning on black Friday FFS. |
I usually do about 3 pm, so somewhere in between.
|
We typically have it anywhere between 2 and 4 pm. This year we are eating at 4 pm.
|
We have Thanksgiving DINNER around 2:00 PM.
My grandpa was a farmer, and the midday meal was always the biggest meal of the day and called dinner. The evening meal is called supper. |
Pizza joints open at 4, so 4.
|
I've got three.
Thursday: 12 and 3. Saturday: 12 again. If I host my own at some point, I'll probably push for a late afternoon, 5ish time frame. |
We normally eat around 1:30, give or take half an hour.
|
Thursday - lunch and dinner.
Friday - breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Saturday - breakfast, lunch and dinner. All the same meal that was cooked Thursday. |
Wake up, smell that Turkey cooking.
Appetizers, veggie tray, cheese and crackers sitting out to nibble on. Eat around 1-ish. Dessert, football, cocktails, possible nap in front of tv. Later on when hungry, open face turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy sandwich. Second dessert. Later, hope for a clean breaker. Next day, extra time at the gym. |
