So we stopped celebrating. Now we just take off and go travel instead. My family's surprisingly really cool about it. We just pick an American city we haven't been to and go explore. On Thanksgiving we usually find one excellent restaurant and go to town.

Maybe they don't like you?
Just putting it out there.

A proper Thanksgiving meal should be served sometime from 3:00 to 4:00. It's neither lunch nor dinner, it's a meal that needs no label - the most important meal of the year.

cosmo20002 11-26-2013 11:04 AM

Well, early responses indicate lunch is actually the usual time for most people. I was in college before I even had any idea at all that we might be doing it wrong. Now, years after that, I guess this might confirm it. I'm going to have to re-examine some things in my life now.

Mama Hip Rockets 11-26-2013 11:22 AM

I usually do about 3 pm, so somewhere in between.

mr. tegu 11-26-2013 11:31 AM

We typically have it anywhere between 2 and 4 pm. This year we are eating at 4 pm.

Dartgod 11-26-2013 11:37 AM

We have Thanksgiving DINNER around 2:00 PM.

My grandpa was a farmer, and the midday meal was always the biggest meal of the day and called dinner. The evening meal is called supper.

ShortRoundChief 11-26-2013 11:39 AM

Pizza joints open at 4, so 4.

Pablo 11-26-2013 11:54 AM

I've got three.

Thursday: 12 and 3.

Saturday: 12 again.

If I host my own at some point, I'll probably push for a late afternoon, 5ish time frame.

Stewie 11-26-2013 12:03 PM

We normally eat around 1:30, give or take half an hour.

jd1020 11-26-2013 12:05 PM

Thursday - lunch and dinner.

Friday - breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Saturday - breakfast, lunch and dinner.

All the same meal that was cooked Thursday.

vailpass 11-26-2013 12:15 PM

Wake up, smell that Turkey cooking.
Appetizers, veggie tray, cheese and crackers sitting out to nibble on.
Eat around 1-ish.
Dessert, football, cocktails, possible nap in front of tv.
Later on when hungry, open face turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy sandwich.
Second dessert.
Later, hope for a clean breaker.
Next day, extra time at the gym.
