If you're trying to be a baller, drop a few grand and get something good. Otherwise, grab something for $150 or less. Nobody is impressed by a $500 watch, and that's really the only reason to spend more than $150 on one.

FWIW, I've owned a Tissot and a Victorinox...both a decade ago or more as gifts. The Victorinox started running backwards, and the Tissot got lost. I can't completely blame the Tissot, but I can't think of anyone other than myself to blame, and that ain't happening.

Let me revise that... there's obviously a spot in the market for them. They're not complete garbage. But I've never owned one for 3+ years. They take a dump on me in the first couple years. That's a waste of $300 from where I stand. That having been said, I am hard on watches.

Ill never own another citizen. Great watch for looks but the crystal is shit if you do real work. Scratch like a bitch. I have the Blue Angels watch. I also have a TAG and wont have a second. My current favorite is a seiko And my indestructable is a Timex.

Go big. Get a Rolex Submariner

$500 isn't really a value point in watches, IMO. If you aren't trying to be a baller (and I don't mean that as a pejorative), then you might as well spend $100- $150 and call it good. A $500 watch doesn't look any better, last any longer, nor hold its value any more than a less expensive alternative.
