He's Top 5 in passrushing and coverage for safeties.

Anybody want to argue that he won't also be Top 5 in run support by the time it's all said and done?

That's an elite safety right there, peeps.

He's still overpaid

LaRon Landry?

Stop. Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.

Eric Berry's talents seemingly have no precedent. What he is asked to do, and how often he does it, and how well he does it, well...

The best I can do is say he's a smaller, more athletic Rodney Harrison.

He's just ridiculous. He was thrown at over 60 times and ended up in the 3rd best coverage score amongst safeties, while blowing everybody away in passrushing and doing a damn good job in run support.

We got the guy we thought we were getting.

This

Someone said he sucked? Is there anyone on d that even is close to as capable at the position asked of them? Maybe Poe? Berry is the jamaal Charles of our defense. He's asked to do a lot with lesser talent around him and still seems to be a big part of keeping our shit together.

Not my money.

Zero shits given.

Sutton is attempting to turn Berry into what Brian Dawkins was for the Eagles when Jim Johnson was running the show.

Underappreciated? Dude is being paid $10 million per. I wish I was underappreciated.

MagicHef 02-11-2014 08:10 AM

Forty nine to naught
Only five throws, one touchdown
Collins played his part

According to the article, we can't judge him as a safety because he doesn't play centerfield, rather he covers tight ends, blitzes occasionally, and takes on the OL in run defense?

Can we just judge him as a linebacker then?

Yeah, my only thing is that I'm not too sure if Berry has the instincts that made Dawkins a special player. We'll know soon enough over the next couple of seasons as Berry becomes more set in his role. I'd really like him to take better angles when he is actually asked to play deep safety, he tends to play it too safe and makes the tackle but still gives up a huge chunk of yardage because of the angles that he takes. There were a few plays where The ball hung up and I thought he could have made a play on it but he took such a steep angle that he would end up about 5 yards beyond the point of the catch.
