This happened in the next town over from where I live (just outside Austin). The cop was there for security and was supposedly trying to keep the kids safe. I think he did okay with that other than the leg sweep attempt. That was over the line but I did see one interview with a kid who was there who totally understood he was just trying to do his job.

As to why they rushed the field, this is a new school (5 years) and this is the first school state championship of any kind. You know, an historic moment!
