Our daughter was in 1st or 2nd grade, can't remember.

She had a bruise on her arm that none of us knew where she got. She showed it to me & I asked her if it hurt. She adamantly said NO. So being the ornery person I am I pushed on it a little & asked if it hurt now. :hmmm:

Anyhoots she went to school & in the process of telling her teacher it was understood that I was responsible. It wasn't long & we got the dreaded call from Child Protective Services. Embarrassed & pissed at the same time.
She laughed it off & I learned a valuable lesson.

Glad you understand. It's crazy how easy it is to end up being investigated, especially if they're getting the story from the child, like in your case. I understand they have to investigate though.

Side note: through this situation, I found out my mom had been reported for abuse twice while my sister and I were very young. It was by her ex - husband though and the cases went nowhere.

No. It created unnecessary anxiety. They're incompetent boobs.

Speaking of nightmare CPS incidents, the following happened to some good friends of mine:

First of all: this couple have their shit together. They're great, compassionate parents with good jobs. They have a special needs son who is their world and they're extremely active in being activists for him and making sure that he has a great life. They also have two other children.

So here's what happened. Their special needs son has an iPad that is, unknowingly to them, set up with their imessaging because it's on their apple account. He's at school working with the iPad. The couple are texting back and forth on their phones using imessage. They're discussing their marijuana useage in texts and actually talking about ceasing smoking marijuana altogether. Their son's paraprofessional sees the messages on the iPad (due to the fact it's synced, unbeknowest to them, to their iMessaging) and turns it over to CPS. Their lives have been a living hell for the last 6 months as a result of the incident. They're actually moving back here because of it as their lives in the State in which they live have been irreparably damaged as a result.

I don't really hold the paraprofessional to blame, as s/he is a mandated reporter, but damn... be careful with your iMessaging and any of your children's devices which might be linked into your app store account.

Haha...my bad. I'll get the next one with that. I'm sure more folks will ask.

Obvious who in this thread has kids, and who don't.

This would ruin my entire weekend, and have my woman frantic until we spoke to them.

Can marijuana users really be responsible parents, though?

What if you're high as **** and the kid needs to go to the hospital?

That's pretty much what it did. Surprisingly, my wife was less worried. She's apparently completely confident in every thing she's done with the kid and has the utmost faith in the babysitter.

What really disturbs me: how many other private messages about other, non-illegal but equally intimate matters, had the school employees seen from the parents without notifying them of the fact that they could see them.

Imagine if some 3rd party was privy to all the texts between you and your spouse? Jeezus.
