Chip Kelly May Be Free Agent Soon?

I think this guy's ideas suck.

His offense, however effective as far as yardage is concerned, places far too much stress on the defense with its fast pace. Plus, it was all inherited. Who has he brought in? Sproles? Literally everyone important on that offense was there before he got there.

He's not even aggressive like I thought he might be, either. The guy's asshole puckers up like most any other coach when faced with 4th down situations in pressure situations.

You seem to have a different definition of great than everyone else.

I guess starting 9-3 then missing the playoffs wears a guy down...

I think his ideas are the next big ones in football, and obviously his system doesn't "need" a god at QB.

What ideas? Andy Reid had as good offenses when he was there. Chip isn't doing anything ground breaking to be honest. NFL defenses make it so that his system is just a good system. Not revolutionary or anything.

His records in philly look just like reid's in kc.

Kelly was a somewhat innovative coach at Oregon whose success really came from Phil Knight's massive monetary contributions. Mark Helfrich hasn't skipped a beat and has possibly taken their program even further, as they're on the brink of their first national title.

But in Philly? There was nothing innovative. He hired a long time WCO disciple in Pat Schumer to run his offense. Foles regressed from season one under Chip and the defense didn't improve.

Going 10-6 in a very weakened NFC East is doesn't exactly inspire confidence in his NFL coaching ability.

OFFENSE!!!! Disclaimer: at the expense of completely your defense.

ThaVirus 01-02-2015 03:07 PM

Their defense got better this year.

The Redskins game was the only really bad loss for the Eagles. Guess the 49ers as well. The rest of their loses were to the NFC Playoff field - Seattle, Green Bay, Dallas, Arizona.

I doubt he is

He is just pulling the old college coaching trick to get a raise.

Hootie 01-02-2015 03:47 PM

he'd do wonders in San Fran with Kaepernick

Kaepernick is the QB he'd truly excel with.

Pretty obvious that like Maronne, Chip Kelly is having problems with the Eagles front office.

nothing wrong with a smug prick. There is one of them over in New England and i'd love to have a coach like him. One that puts winning first in a business where winning is everything.
