It all comes back to the mad mind of Wiley bob. I just don't feel like the guy has a full grasp of the Rex Ryan defense. I think he's satisfied giving up the run at 4.5 yards a chunk and doing their thing against the pass.

John Dorsey- bob were getting our heads ripped off against the run.

Squirrelly Bob- but did you see the play after where Poe and Howard twist, Bailey drops into coverage and I sent the ghost of William bartees on a delayed blitz from zone coverage?

Our pass defense is what has kept us dominant these last few years so this transition to life after Sean Smith could be a rough one for a few games. We have never been solid at stopping the run and tbh I think this falls on the linebackers

Very good point. Smith will indeed be missed....The run defense has seemed to step up when needed in the past.

Poe hasn't been playing well. Dude is getting pushed back in run defense.

Pretty much the case with everyone on the D-line. They all seem to have been losing more individual battles than they win.

Chief_For_Life58 08-26-2016 11:49 AM

i really dont think our defense is gonna be anywhere near as good as everyone thinks. Our olb is shit, really, think about it. Justin houston hurt, tamba is 65 years old, dee ford is a bust.

Corners: we have one proven good one. 1.

poe hasnt been anywhere near as explosive as he once was once that back injury.

linebackers: DJ is 80 years old, 120 tackles a year for the past 15 years? right. Mauga? lol.

I think our offense is gonna have to win the games for us now, not defense

We built a defense to stop the Payton Mannings and Phillip Rivers of the world when they were really good. And we won't even do that very well this year because of injuries and losses to free agency.

We got gashed in the running game last year several times, even when everyone was healthy. The defense will probably take a step back this year.

Kid you crack me up.

Holy ****ing morons.

The established vets have played poorly, while the young developing players look good. With that said, hard to say that there is an issue with coaching on the DL, especially after just two ****ing preseason games.

If you'll recall earlier he said March was going to take Mauagas spot. Now Mauga is a savior of the defense.

Wow. Un****ingbelievable how you guys try to twist everything I say.

No, I've never once said anything remotely close to that.

Why are you guys so hard on Staylor? He, like myself and many others, predicted that March would seize the starting spot while Mauga was injured, But we all saw March fail to step up in the preseason games and now Stay;or, Dane, myself, and many others realize that Mauga isn't going anywhere because we don't have anyone better ready to take his spot. That is a far cry from him saying that Mauga is the savior of the defense, or that he is going to tear it up this season. If you don't like him, that's your business. But you and a few others are attacking him from every angle and it's getting ridiculous. This site has ran off a lot of good posters over the years. Staylor is a quality poster. No need to keep this up and run him off too.

As long as we have a top 10 defense by December, I am going to do my best not to get upset if our defense lags behind for the first part of the season.

If we struggle until Houston returns, then so be it. We'll finally get to see what Ford is worth and everyone else will have to just play harder. I'm confident our offense can maintain control of time of possession which will be key in keeping our secondary and linebackers rested.

Missing out on Smith will hurt but is it enough to bump us from top 5 defense to the bottom half?

Can't speak for anyone else but I'm just giving him shit.

But if you rail others for stating their opinion as often as he does and you're likely to get what you've been given.

He's tough enough to take it. He's not going anywhere because we're being mean to him.

I have no problem with that, but twisting everything I say, and putting words in my mouth is just ****ing annoying. Me and you often disagree, but it's completely different than it is with billay, jspchief, vailpass, etc.

You're right though, I'm not going anywhere. They can all suck my ****ing cock.

Need another stud to pair with DJ if you actually want to stop the run.

Easy 6 08-26-2016 03:08 PM

Yes, the starting front seven has looked pretty bad against the run, but I remain unconcerned because of a two factors

1) vanilla preseason game plans

2) the absence of 3 critical defensive starters

It will get cleaned up, everyone just take a deep breath

Mr. Laz 08-26-2016 03:30 PM

Doesn't look good so far

Manga helps because he's too dam slow to run himself out of position.
Berry will help because lets be honest, he's half linebacker anyway
Hali will help because he's scrappy as hell
our scheme depends on lane responsibility and in the preseason we have none

our DL has still be disappointing, lots of guys getting their ass kicked in the trenches.

I mean our Offense hasn't been scheming and the Oline still looks pretty good. Dline better shape the hell up.
