Well, that's were we're tripped up in this conversation.

If it's a viral flu, like rhinovirus, then yes, it's a virus. It's a stomach flu or a "bug", it's bacterial.

The issue at hand is that people commonly refer to the "flu" as something other than influenza. The stomach flu isn't an influenza, yet people call it a flu, just as people refer to a "24 hour bug" as the flu.

The Chiefs beat reporter said he has "the flu", which could mean any of the above.

Hopefully, it's just a 24 hour thing.

Ah, ok. Sorry, I don't really get sick often. Don't think I've had either the flu or a "stomach bug".
