Never really was much into wrestling, but when we watched, it was Mid-South, not WWF or the 'hollywood' stuff, because my grandma [and mom's whole side of the family down in LA really] watched Mid-South forever.

Mid-South was the promotion of the hardcore fan in those days. The guy who ran the territory, Bill Watts, was so old-school that if one of his wrestlers got in a bar fight and lost, he'd fire him because he'd lose credibility in front of the audience.

I read 5 or 10 years ago that the Silverdome was sold at auction to a small company for $200,000. Then when they realized that it was going to cost them many millions in commercial taxes and maintenance they defaulted and filed bankruptcy. They couldn't even afford to demo it.

Old stadiums need to have new breath of life. Either try to rebuild or indeed tear them down.

am curious if the stadium trusts ever paid back the portion of monies taxpayers put towards it?

i absolutely hate that professional sports asks for taxpayer monies for funding. i mean what other sport are you going to get in their that can cap out at 80 thousand people a week.

its a backhanded slap to the fan, and to those that would never go to an event.
