The question was whether or not the Chiefs should trade Foles since "they are not playing for the Superbowl". Largely people here that hold that sentiment, do so, because of Alex Smith. My point was that Reid doesn't share that same sentiment. It's not that he just fell into Smith, he had been trying to get Smith for years prior to coming to KC. So with the added offensive weapons, getting Houston back on what is still a good defense, and the vulnerability of the AFC, Reid is absolutely in the mindset that the Chiefs are legitimately competing for a Superbowl. I therefore seriously doubt that the they would even remotely entertain the idea of trading Foles this season.
