Smith's deal is odd because after improving over each of the last 4 years, his play has taken a steep decline this year, which logically, shouldn't have happened to a 32 year old QB.

But Maclin? 28 years old, $11 million per, 1,000 yard receiver last year? It's completely bizarre and utterly unexpected, especially when the offense is essentially built around him and it's struggled in his absence.
Maclin's regression is even worse because unlike Houston, who's been ably replaced by Dee Ford, no other WR on the roster has filled that gap.

I agree with everything you post here, Dane, but Houston has been paid handsomely but hasn't produced anything for a full season hence the skewed balled on the graph.
I am not griping, just observing.
