$13M a year? I'll take that.

Done sooner rather than later hopefully. 6 years is a longer deal than I thought it would be.

$13 mil per year is completely fine with me. One of your 2-3 best players and the heart of the team.

I was worried it might be $15M or something.

Bewbies 02-28-2017 11:46 AM

6 year deal at 13 per is probably more like 4 year at 8 or 9 per.

Coogs 02-28-2017 11:52 AM

If this goes down, and we tag Poe, $13.6 million for DT's, several guys aren't going to be Chief's come tomorrow afternoon.

pugsnotdrugs19 02-28-2017 11:53 AM

Bet they added a 6th year to the deal so they can make the 1st year hit even lower than before, like $5 million or even less.

They might actually try to tag Poe.

pugsnotdrugs19 02-28-2017 11:56 AM

I swear, the 'athletes should take a hometown discount' narrative is so f**king ignorant.

What would you do if someone was offering you 150% of whatever you currently make? That's what Berry would have gotten if the Chiefs held him to a measly and disrespectful $9M per year offer.

No safety had a bigger impact on their team in a positive way than Berry has had the past two years.

pugsnotdrugs19 02-28-2017 12:03 PM

This reminds me of the Bowe/Albert situation a few years back... Dorsey working to nail this Berry deal and slap the tag on Poe. But how? I know there are ways to make the money work, but do we really need Poe on the hook for $13M this year?

I don't like greed. Berry is very rich man already and he was treated very well when he got sick but instead of being grateful and helping us keep a good team on the field the field with the cap he ****ed us. I can't stand Brady but he takes less to help his team because he has a lot and has said so publicly. Berry should have done the same for us. Instead he acted like T.O.

If they're going to tag him....then I hope they transition tag him.

Gisele plays a big part in that.... not to mention, Brady is the greatest QB of all time. Making loads of cash off of endorsements and ads anymore. Berry is making his hay on the field and as far as I know doesn't have an even richer wife.

Brady also has a wife that is far wealthier than he is. This is nonsense. The guy is doing exactly what any rational human being would do. If somebody offered me more money to do the same job i do now elsewhere, i would, even if it was only 20k more. These players are not connected to a team simply because they were drafted by them. KC is not his "hometown" This argument is invalid.

Cap rise + Foles dropped option=$17 million. That should be enough with what we already have to keep Berry/Poe next year.

I can never really trust OTC but being the only thing we have to go off of, they have us at about $5 million in cap space. But, they project it to be a $173 million cap, which is reportedly too high. It's more likely to be $168-169M which puts us right against it.

They'd almost have to restructure a couple of guys to make this work. Maclin is a candidate. Maybe DJ and Hali will cut back given their situations.
