26.5 guaranteed over 3 years when they were about to give him 19 for A year? They sure didn't value him highly.

Red Dawg 02-24-2018 07:28 PM

Thats a mistake. He's below average.

Every single time Pittsburgh looked like they were about to steal momentum, Bortles made clutch plays that kept putting the game out of reach... he earned this extension

They were about to guarantee him 19.6 or so million this season, and not by choice. They are hardly taking any risk.

Trick question?

Chiefs.

Legitimately just threw their Super Bowl window away. Bortles maxed out his potential this past postseason and it still wasn’t enough. JAX is ****ed.

Yep. They're about to experience the pain of the 90s Chiefs.

If Bortles beat the Patriots in the AFC Championship and went on to beat the Eagles, he'd overtake Dilfer as the worst QB to ever win a Super Bowl.

That's not what you want in a longterm QB option. You want to try to achieve better things.

Tombstone RJ 02-24-2018 08:13 PM

This means Jacksonville is out of the Cousins sweepstakes... but I bet the jags draft a QB in the second round...

BryanBusby 02-24-2018 08:15 PM

They were never in it. That would of conpletely hedged on Bortles passing a physical, which wasn't going to happen.

Bortles went into mighty Pittsburgh as a yuge underdog and kicked their ass up and down the field... when a play just HAD to be made to keep them from taking the lead, or keeping a crucial drive from stalling, Bortles made it happen

I swear it sometimes seems like none of you jokers actually watch the ****ing games

He is worth hanging on to for Jaxsonville, he made a tremendous leap last year

Eleazar 02-24-2018 08:34 PM

Good move for them I think. 26.5 guaranteed isn't bad, and there isn't a clear upgrade for them in free agency or in the draft this year.

Agreed. His contract isn't that expensive, per the going rate for QBs, either.

Not a Bortles fan, but he did play well enough to almost beat the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Good for them, he was able to navigate them deep into the playoffs and was ****ing CLUTCH @ Pittsburgh

That game is what earned him the extension, he repeatedly killed their ass in their own house... loves me a big strong pocket passer in the Roethlisberger mold

How is it a mistake, this contract is cheaper than what Wentz and Goff are making on their rookie contracts. Its a team friendly deal.
