Shouldn't bring a knife to a gun fight.

Even a really big knife. :D

Any list that has Chicago 24th can't be right. 760 PLUS murders...

If you looked at all of it it mentions that but the other crimes that are also violent, rape, etc are lower so the total violent crime ranks them 24th.

I can't verify this, only relate what I was told. But years ago, the firm I worked for shared space with an insurance agency. One of the agents was a former coroner, and would on occasion be called in by Chicago if the number of bodies they had overwhelmed the staff. He told me that the official number of deaths, be they homicides or otherwise, was greatly under reported, and that if people knew the actual murder rate, it would scare the shit out of them.

Again, I can't corroborate this. Haven't seen the guy in the 25 years and don't even remember his last name. But considering how ****ed up Chicago is, I've never had any trouble believing it.

Forget just the homicides, someone gets shot in Chicago every 3hr 20min so far in 3018. Having been to Cook County hospital numerous times, there’s usually a waiting line of non-life threatening gun shot wounds, looking pitiful AF. FWIW it was every 2+ hours the previous couple years.

It's based on per capita and violent crimes overall not just murders.

Even with the murders, KC had 149 last year with a 500k population. Chicago had 650 with a 2.7million population. Chicago has a better ratio.

That link said it was 765 in the year compared.

Thats dead. Not hurt. Dead.

That's too bad. I've always said if I relocated back to KC, I'd live cool-like, downtown.

Is that not an option anymore?

Must be old numbers. Chicago had 770 in 2016 but it's gone down to 650 last year and theyre on pace for 400-500 this year.
