There is still a market for flashlights? Every phone has one.

oh yeah - they have a bunch now - some really cool upper end selections out there for various tasks/camping etc...

1) those lights are shitty

2) it's dumb to rely on your phone battery for light

3) flashlights are more durable than cell phones

4) some jobs don't allow you to have your cell on you at all times

I and many coworkers were given free Redline flashlights at work. They all fell apart or stopped working within 90 days. The stupid red plastic ring at the lens end breaks very easily.

My flashlight will strobe at 1100 lumens for a few hours as a safety feature.

Super bright. I can easily scout my property from inside my house.

Scout your property? Do you live on the edge of the unorganized territories or something?

My everyday go to light one is a Surefire EDCL2-T but I own a bunch of flashlights.

Hey Red, if you really want to dive into the what's what with flashlights, this is a good place to start.

Some of these guys are hardcore and build some wild stuff.

A decent cheap flashlight is the Coast G45 at 385 lumens that takes three AAA batteries. It has a nice bull's eye pattern with a dimmer halo and good throw. You can usually find it for about $20 at various hardware or home improvement stores.

No but I have several acres with a tree line. My next door neighbors horses sometimes get out and they come eat our grass. I don't really care but if the dog starts barking, I want to make sure that its the neighbor's horse and not a moose or a bear. Moose are harmless but our dog likes to chase them. A good kick by a moose would really hurt the dog.

We also have chickens and I've heard them squawking sometimes and I use the flashlight to see if there's a fox or a marmot or a fisher. Or an eagle. We had an eagle after our chickens a couple weeks ago.

I bought one similar to this, an HID torch light a couple of years ago and the thing is not only a war club, it throws light like nothing I have ever seen. Probably at least 6 times the light of a vehicle on high beam. Great for the mountains at night.

I have had mine for almost a year and it still works great. I don't use it every day but I use it more than once a week.
