Having said that, I don’t think there has ever been a more perfect combo of HC and qb.

Well, kinda. I mean, they had to have liked him A LOT, because Belichick often times thinks that a 3rd string QB is a roster spot wasted. I remember a lot of times over the past 30 years when the Patriots only had 2 QBs on their roster, going back to Bledsoe/Zolak era. Brady/Cassel, Brady/Hoyer...
