I'm sure A LOT more went into the decision of letting ford go than just a schematic fit. theres that...Injury history, Lack of run defense. Lots of question marks. I think most people who have watched his career would be pretty hesitant so sign him long term. And if theres any doubt then trading him a year early is a good move IMO.
Clowney is much bigger than ford, and is a more complete player. He has prototypical size for a 4-3 DE.
