Aren't the Pats supposedly gonna cut Hoyer? That wouldn't be a terrible idea.

Mecca 08-26-2019 09:45 AM

I think the idea was to PS Schurmer to take Henne's role next year, not already.

Rain Man 08-26-2019 09:45 AM

I completely missed Henne getting hurt. Was it in the game or was it a practice injury?

It really depends on the tear type. Recovery can be as short as three to four weeks. A mild mcl sprain may heal in 2-3 weeks as well.
Would be surprised if they put him on IR

Well Chris Jones tore his MCL and it was an 8-10 week recovery.

You’d think an MCL sprain would be something like 4-6 weeks

Speaks will be ready by week 3 for sure

That's pretty quick. Is weight a factor?

I'd see if you could trade for a backup from somewhere now.

Oh wouldya now?

1) Of course you would. If there's a way to trade for someone, water boy included, you're gonna do it.

2) Why? I mean unless you're going after Chase Daniel, any QB you bring in here is going to have to learn the system from the ground up without the benefit of any sort of training camp period. The odds of a 'veteran backup' who's never operated in Andy's system being better than Litton are pretty remote.

As for Daniel....ugh - I really don't have much interest in paying him $4 million. And the Bears would give him to us for a 7th in all likelihood given that he appears to be a likely cut candidate.

Nah, I'd let him get cut and offer him something like $1-2 million to return. Then I'd probably cut Henne with an injury settlement as I think Daniel's probably a better option here anyway. But I wouldn't give $4 million for him.

With 8 guys not dressing for games anyway he may just be that for the first month or so.

Daniel was my first choice. I don't like paying that, but it is what it is. They can't go into the year with Litton or Shurmur as the backup.

If Mahomes goes down for something long term, fine, throw one of them out there. It wouldn't matter.

But if it's a game or a half, they need someone respectable.

Sounds like good a plan. I'm in.

Serious question - how does this impact our playcalling?

I think we try even harder to avoid injury for Pat, moreso than before.

More runs? More 6-OL sets where one is a "TE"?

I was about 270-280 at the time. I didn’t do rehab, he may be forced to do so.

Meniscus repair is very minor. Easy peasy.
