Overall Jones had a pretty good day. Though Henry's second TD was pretty much Jones' responsibility. He didn't even see Henry, which is hard to do considering just how freaking big he is.

And the 68-yard Henry TD run, wasn't completely his fault, but he was lined up pretty wide, and after the snap he didn't slide in towards the play nearly enough. He was unblocked, and could've made the play, if he'd have closed the gap between himself and the end of the line as the play was developing. Instead, he just took a couple half steps towards the play, and when Henry cut back to the right, Jones was too deep by a full yard and not nearly close enough to make the play.

A pessimistic person could say that he took the play off. I think he just didn't know exactly what his responsibility was in that spot.

But he did have 7 tackles, 4 solo and of course his two sacks and TFL, which is a good day.

I was harsh on Jones there specifically, but the LBs were a complete abomination on that run.

If Jones had been where he should've been, he either makes the tackle, or at least gets both hands on Henry, instead of slapping his ass as he went by, or Henry doesn't try to cut back there because Jones is there, and Henry only gets a couple yards. There were plenty of red shirts there to make a tackle in the middle, they were all just engaged with blockers.

You are completely wrong on this. That was not on Jones. He's playing the end, so he cant crash down on that play, since he has to contain the outside. The DT gets blown out of his spot which leaves a huge gap. Jones has to stay where he is in case they are faking the handoff. If Jones crashes down on that and Tannehill keeps it, then no one is there to stop Tannehill. Jones played that percectly. He keeps his eyes on Tannehill and once he knows he doesn't have the ball he tries to make the play.

You don't know what you are talking about and a pretty good day? You're raging hard on for Clark and to defend him at all costs really makes you look like a real ****ing idiot, especially when you try to down play the game Jones (our best defender by far) had because he makes Clark look like a huge pile of shit.

What are you talking bout? I didn't mention Clark one time in my post. And I am not down-playing Jones' play. He had a very good day, I said. I just didn't omit the parts where he made mistakes.

Jones was unblocked; the play was moving away from him. He should've closed the distance between himself and the end of the line. He takes two half step in that direction, but also drops himself deeper into the backfield. But he's at least 6-7 yards away still. When he realizes that Henry is cutting back, he charges forward, but Henry is already even with him, so for Jones the play is over, he's not going to catch Henry at that point.

Hell, I never even blamed Jones for either play. I honestly think he isn't completely comfortable at DE. That's going to take some snaps.

I appreciate Chris Jones!

Chief Northman 11-11-2019 12:48 AM

We can be overly critical about his run defense, but this dude makes big plays in every game. He’s more deserving of a contract than Clark was/is. I would not be upset whatsoever if the Chiefs pay him well to stay in KC. He plays with passion and is a force.

Hmm. Which TD are you talking about? the 1-yarder or the 68-yarder?

I just realized that you may be talking about the 1-yarder, and my post was about the 68-yarder.

Yeah, Chris Jones is a badass. You've gotta pay that due. He's an ass kicker inside while getting doubled a lot.

(If i'm reading that right).

how tf does a chris jones appreciation thread only have two pages?

CasselGotPeedOn 12-12-2019 03:21 PM

Wasn't there an arguement that Jones wasn't as good as Fletcher Cox? Not according to that graphic.
