They just broke the play down on the NFL Channel. Pretty basic play but 2 things made it happen...

1. Speedy WR in Reek

2. QB who can drop back 14 yards and sling it 40 yards down field without stepping into it while getting hit

Also helped that 49ers were in cover 3 and stupidly abandoned the deep third.

Pretty much the exact reason they ran that play.

All game, Mahomes said, the 49ers employed a “robber” coverage — one of the safeties in their trademark Cover 3 scheme would take away deep crossing routes in the middle of the field.

Mahomes reads the corner. If the corner drops to double Hill with the safety then he goes Watkins. If the corner breaks with Watkins then Hill is his next option.

I had a Direct TV satellite dish in high school that allowed me to watch Chiefs game on Sunday Ticket. When I went to college, I brought the satellite dish up to my college because I didn't want to miss a game. I had it in the backseat for the 4-hour drive and was about halfway through the trip when we heard some buzzing. Suddenly, there was a wasp flying around the car. We opened the windows and it disappeared. Where the **** did that come from? 2 minutes later, more buzzing and another wasp. We pull over to the side, take out the satellite dish, and realize there was a wasp's nest in the base of the dish.

Now that I look back, it was clearly foreshadowing 21yrs later.

It will only beat Cover 3 if that outside corner bites down.

Usually in Madden they don't.
