Mahomes legacy will be best benefitted from a real rival in the AFC, even if Mahomes ends up with a 14-5 record against that rival. I wish Lamar well and hope he succeeds, he was a blast to watch this year and leads a different offense than what today's defenses are made to counter. The Chiefs having an athlete as transcendental as Mahomes have a foil with an athlete with a largely different skillset like Lamar would be great for the game and make their matchups must see events even with non-NFL fans. I know some folks think Watson is a more natural rival (especially with the intrigue with the Texans wanting Patrick), but with Big Brain running the Texans' ship, I don't see it.
FTR, Mahomes could largely own Lamar throughout his career and still have Lamar considered his main rival. Going into the 2015 season (when Manning was an absolute shell of himself) Brady was 11-4 against him and Bill largely had little issue dispatching of Manning - I think there's a chance Andy and Patrick could have similar success against the Ravens offense (especially if they force Lamar to pass) and Reid's former understudy (Harbaugh).
