He looks like he is running in quicksand.

It's a definite downgrade when he's in there. Clyde hits the hole and plows forward, Bell stops, does a lateral dance, then gets tackled. I get why we picked him up, but I expected more.

He posted this after the game. Is he unhappy about his role?

What we've seen so far hasn't lived up to expectations, he's mostly getting what's there... but it's an old looking 28 |
He was never a burner. IIRC, he ran something like a 4.6 40.

We turned things around today by passing more (Bell is better in pass pro) and by throwing outside (Bell is a far better outside receiver). That was our big adjustment today. Bell plays way worse than CEH when our OL sucks. but he also becomes way more valuable when we can't run the ball very well. |

They can pretty much win every single game but it's difficult to stay laser focused when the competition isn't playing at a similarly high level. Then the playoffs begin and they steamroll to the title. For me, it's taken away a lot of the fun of the regular season because they can just turn it on or off, depending on the situation and win. I mean, I haven't been concerned about a loss pretty much this entire season, even after they allowed the Raiders to beat them. And then you look around the league at the other supposed "great teams" and they're a joke. Green Bay looks like the only real competition but if the Chiefs don't absolutely shred their defense, I would be shocked. They're in a class of their own but if you don't watch the other 15 games every week, you probably won't know it. |

His best play of the night was acting as a rolling bodyguard on a Mahomes rollout to the right |
Bell’s running style of patiently navigating through defenders is tough behind this offensive line which is arguably one of the worst run blocking o-lines in the league currently.
Either you have to have the speed to hit a rare opening quickly or the physicality to break through defenders... Bell lacks both of these characteristics at this stage of his career. |
Bell is fine. He's doing what they want and doing it well. If anything we don't use him enough in short yardage. Put in Sherm to block and give it to Bell.
|
In limited snaps bell had 2 carries for 21 yards and 2 catches for 14 yards on 3 targets. He seemed fine to me though he does have his hesitate then hit the hole style.

It's now like watching Kansas basketball.... they'll get good and even great efforts from teams. Sometimes they won't show up and will lose a very winnable game, other times you just have to tip your cap to an unbelievable performance from an opponent. And then maybe once or twice per regular season, you'll watch them against a team that's a real contender. Like you basically said, they're no longer a regular season team... and the NFL can barely fill the two championship games with legit contenders on any given season, so you're lucky to see one or two such match ups before late January (or right, no pre-Mahomes ranting LMAO). And this is supposed to be an 11-1 vs 9-3 match up on my TV... oy. |
