He drafted some talent, yes.

So did Carl.

And hell, even Pioli did. Even though he botched the 1st round, that 2011 draft of his wasn't the worst thing in the world.

Being a good GM means being the complete package. You can't have a weak spot. Not everything has to be great, but you can't outright suck at a particular thing. Dorsey sucked at multiple things. Namely playing nice with others, not pissing off your boss, and managing the cap effectively.

This is the non-talked about connection between the Browns and Chiefs.

John Dorsey drafted Patrick Mahomes.

John Dorsey drafted Baker Mayfield.

Both QBs now face each other in the divisional round.

Meanwhile, John Dorsey was fired from both franchises and is sitting at home watching.

Let's appreciate this guy's eye for talent - even if he has a penchant for giving huge contract to guys with no spirit!

There is too much evidence otherwise to award Mahomes to Dorsey.

Praising a guy for finding Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield is like praising Paul McCartney for his work in the Beatles and Wings.

Why do you guys play mental gymnastics with this? He was the GM that orchestrated the trade up and drafted him. Period.

If anything, him listening to his scout pound on the table for Mahomes and then acting on it is credit to him as a GM.

I think 1) he believed that the winning and good coaching Freddie did when he was interim would continue. And 2) he believed Freddie was inexperienced and influenceable enough that he(Dorsey) would sort of be able to coach through him. He obviously couldn't do that with Reid or any other strong minded coach.

Did he have issues? Sure. But much like with Alex, I just don't get the unending hatred towards the guy.

Look where we are now. Regardless of what he ****ed up, he undeniably had a hand in it.

We've got bigger fish to fry right now.

It took Alex breaking everything in his leg for people here to start liking him so maybe Dorsey needs to break his leg?

It's not unending hatred. It's just bristling when some Chiefs fans demand that you suck his dick. Nonstop, too. The man's been gone for four years as of this coming spring, and we STILL have Chiefs fans reflecting on his time here and going, "Well, it's MYYYYYY grand opinion that he was a pretty good GM!"

Like... ****ing why? He's been fired twice. Let Dorsey go. If people think he's so great, they should have talked about him when we were still comparing him to Veach much earlier in his tenure with the eam. Why do people pine for him or hope he gets another job? Who the hell gives a shit about him now? There's only 32 of these jobs in the NFL, and he ****ed up two of them. Why should he get a third chance?

Let Dorsey go. We don't ****ing need a "John Dorsey Appreciation Thread." Jesus ****ing Christ.

The GM Hierarchy goes Veach, Carl Peterson, Dorsey

Dorsey is just a great scout who was elevated. Not a good GM.

Then, he went to a Brown's team that went 1-31 in the 2 years prior. Now, they are am 11 win team and won their first playoff game in 36 years. I know that he was succeeded by GM's in both places that took them to the next level. But he laid the foundation for both teams. If I were one of the teams looking for a GM right now, Dorsey would be on top of my list. If he needs replaced in 2-3 years, so what? It's worked out just fine in KC and Cleveland.

I swear i pushed the thumbs up button, but my fingers are fat.

Yeah, I don’t get the hate for him and trying to discredit him.

He shouldn’t be idolized, but he deserves some credit for getting the Chiefs in the right direction.
