The article is definitely overblown, that said I'm betting that was the last game Nickelodeon broadcasts

Between the loud F bomb that got dropped, and that Bear punching dude in the head... its probably not something they wanna repeat of

Is that like the millennial version of "rub some dirt on it"?

It's like when you're on the playground and some kid sucker punches your ass to the pavement.

Oh no, the NFL is bad because the commentators didn't emphasize how deadly and dangerous football is. They tricked millions of families this weekend into thinking football is just a slime filled, pillow fight.

I think targeting a young audience for the NFL is pretty odd anyway so its a bit over the top but good grief the guy who wrote this article quotes a dude who is basically saying this is going to get kids killed.

There are plenty of other programming available much much worse than WATCHING football. It's up to the parent and child if they want to participate in the sport.

First person shooter video games, violent movies...all much worse than the ultimate team sport that values working together with your fellow man to come to a common goal. There is no sport out there where working as a team is more important than football IMO.

My son is almost 3. I can tell you he gives less than no ****s about traumatic brain injury.

Sports writers hate sports. That is what I have come to the conclusion the last couple of years.

Feel like a lot of that can be fixed with a delay and just by training/experience for the broadcasters and crew. But yeah, a LOT to work on. The article is an overreaction but they're not wrong about being extra careful about the CONTROLLABLE things kids see. If they have these common sense safeguards in place that's life if some things slip through. Not like these kids weren't noticing these things during CBS and Fox broadcasts.

It certainly seems that way at times doesn't it?

Truth, there isn't much more of a DGAF about injury than a 3-10 year old boy.

When I was a kid around 7 me and my uncle who is of similar age (Catholic family :)) hauled a red pedal car up to the roof of my grandparents shed and got in it and drove it off into a pile of leaves. Pretty spectacular crash.

I would have loved to hear the color commentary on that.

The Nickelodeon broadcast has received widespread praise other than from the usual concussion opportunists.

There will likely be similar future broadcasts.
