Maybe more guys willing to take a cheap-ish 1 year deal in a good situation to get to next year where they can paid more?

Could be good for us?

I’ve said they should extend Hill for awhile now. It’s clear that he has zero contact with his baby momma and he now has a better and a stable gf (Kenny Vacarros sister). Veach do the right thing and make Hill a top 3 paid WR

I hope not. Having one high priced wr is a waste. You need a cast of good ones not one killing the other skill positions.

When you have a top 5 player at his position in the league, you pay him as such.

You'll never find two guys for the price of Hill that can do what Hill does. You don't just replace a Hopkins, Diggs, or Hill.

TomBarndtsTwin 03-10-2021 11:26 AM

Hill was already Top 5 paid last year, trailing only Julio, Amari Cooper, Mike Evans and A.J. Green, who is now himself a FA. I'd say he's doing alright.

I'd be cautious about extending Hill too long, not because of the off the field stuff (that seems to have settled down), but because speed can drop off a cliff seemingly out of nowhere. Wait till after this year and see where things are at with Hill. And even then, I'd probably do a short term deal with him creeping up on 30 after this season.

They need to upgrade Hill’s pay. They can do that while also lowering his 2021 cap hit and giving him more guarantees (not much of it IS guaranteed right now. Most is in roster bonuses).

We will be fine cap wise. It just sucks that it rewards teams that are rebuilding. I just wish there was another way.

O.city 03-10-2021 11:33 AM

Chiefs are currently about 5 mill over.

PAY THAT POS!

You take care of Hill when it makes sense to do it.

If we need to do something now because it frees up money for this year, then by all means do it.

RunKC 03-10-2021 11:38 AM

$20.3 million over the cap currently. Pretty easy to free money. Clark signing that roster bonus for Patrick would free up $17 million alone before doing anything else.

We could easily manage to get to around $25 million in space

chiefzilla1501 03-10-2021 11:39 AM

I get that owners made less money because of covid. But let's be real, they're still making a shitload especially with gambling revenues. It just makes it a bitter pill to swallow. And it makes me wonder how many owners voted for this cap even though they could easily absorb the blow and it makes their team worse off, yet voted for it anyway.

Their pretty close to okay though. Sausage's 1.5 mil coming off the cap for retirement gets them to 184 mil.

There is no savings from Sherman's retirement.

He contract, like DRob's, were part of the Veteran's Exception last season so his contract didn't count toward the 51.

Actually we’re about 24 mil over. We have 206 mil dollars allocated to 2021 for our top 51
