If Fisher is 100% he’s your starting LT

Fisher's not and never will be since he's 30 and not 25

This is obviously good optionality for us to have. It's why it was a relatively easy decision for the team in the first place to cut ties. We can't rely upon players we can't count on and have to move on. But if somehow they regain their health and want to come back, we then have a potential embarrassment of riches and depth on the OL.

Fingers crossed with expectations extremely low...

Would welcome back Fisher in a heartbeat. Schwartz, not so much.

Well put and you are absolutely right. It is a "dream" more than a "reality". The Chiefs needed their hands forced to replace the tackles with youth. NOW!

I'm being as nice as possible, but you know being injured when you're 30 is absolutely different than being able to recover while you're in your mid-twenties

BossChief 04-19-2021 07:18 PM

That would be some 3D chess type shit if both are re-signed after the draft and it was just a ploy to get teams to move up in front of us thinking we NEED OTs and they need to move up to get one when all we wanted was a different player to fall to us.

IowaHawkeyeChief 04-19-2021 07:20 PM

I said this early on and think we will sign 1 at least...

You severely underestimate Fisher

In58men 04-19-2021 07:41 PM

Chiefs are not going to bring back Fisher if they think he’s going to be a liability.

You can also look at this as "Hey we ****ed up". The Trent Williams deal didn't work out as we planned so, please forgive us and bring your "broke dick" asses back so that we can semi keep Mahomes upright. :hmmm:

I'd be down with Niang at LT, but clearly that was never the plan, given how hard they went after Trent Williams. I think the plan was clearly to use free agency on the OL and go defense/Wr with the first two picks.

Now we are probably looking at a trade up for a left tackle in the first round.

Actually, Reid today said it was the plan to have Niang play LT, just maybe not in the immediate future. He said they had "aspirations" of putting him at LT before he opted out.

Andy pretty clearly said that it wasn't a football move, it was a cap move. They weren't healthy and the Chiefs needed the money.

I highly doubt either one of them come back.
