We have 2 weeks to figure it out. We have to find the weakness and consistently start to exploit it. The defense is coming into it's own.

What the Raider game showed is that the old offense is still in there. If it emerges consistently then we're going to win the Super Bowl. It's really as simple as that.

If this team is clicking it wins the Super Bowl.

Well, unless they can find a legit #2 WR in the film room, I'm not sure what else they can do. :)

2 Things need to happen on our O over the next 6 weeks:
1. Our Receivers need to stop dropping balls. Period.

2. We need Niang and Remmers healthy and back as options at RT. Wylie at RT makes my stomach feel weak.

The dropped balls and fumbles have definitely hurt us. I think we went through a bit of hard pressing trying to force things rather than adjust. The Raiders didn't play a shell defense as much as other teams are so we lit them up.

The entire point of that cover-2 shell type defense is to take away big plays. When you take away big plays it takes longer to score. When it takes longer to score you aren't going to score as much.

In years past we could play threw a 3 and out or two because we could score in 4 or 5 plays and keep lighting shit up.

Now a 3 and out means a lower score. So the defense has to step it up.

Mahomes has just got to keep hitting the underneath stuff and going to the RB dump offs when they see that Cover 2 look. There were also a few times yesterday that he could have used his legs to get close or to the first down marker but he was looking down field. Love that he keep shis eyes down-field but he has got to mix it up and take what's there. A few of those might have been first downs where we otherwise stalled out.

Raiders game was perfect combo of looking deep but also hitting the underneath stuff as well. Just keep that balance going. I Thought yesterday they went back to waiting on long developing plays and they started turtling again. Then they started hitting the underneath stuff again and were moving the ball.

Hopefully we are seeing Mahomes getting into that good balance form where he is taking what is there but also keeps checking for the deep shot.

They have.

Right now they have about a half game worth of such plays.

Against the Raiders, Vegas altered to 3 high in the 2nd and that allowed us to get our RPO game going.

Think I'll eat some turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes and some chicken & dumplings while I watch the AFC teams beat each other up as the Chiefs rest. Andy and crew will pour through the video and devise a game plan built around what we do best. After the bye our offense will take off and with the improved D we will roll.

MahomesMagic 11-22-2021 10:29 AM

The fact is the problems with the offense will remain as long as we continue to act like a spread team with too many weapons to cover.

We have 1 great WR and 1 great TE.

Our OL is built to knock people out.

So we start games now with Cover 2 breakers that might be ugly but work. We run power football.

Then we normally try to go back to our normal offense and.
..you saw the results vs Dallas.

Just enough tricks to run out the clock.

Why Not? 11-22-2021 10:39 AM

1. Yes

2. Not for an Andy Reid coached team. They come out of the bye on fire more often than not.

3. Yes

It's not rocket science to break the Cover 2, just run the ball, throw underneath and see how long the D stays in it. It's not a highlight reel or a high scoring game, but a win is a win and it's all about winning.

What we seem to forget is that Mahomes is young and played his college days basically running for his life. That translated into success during his 1st 3 years as a starter. Defenses have adjusted to that so now he has to change his game. Even legendary gunslingers like Favre, Marino, and Namath took the dump-off when it moved the chains.

I actually like the timing.

We just finished a very difficult 3-game stretch. We have some guys that are dinged up, which gives them another week to heal up (we may have Niang and or Remmers back at RT for the Denver game, which would be big).

This off week gives us some time to charge the batteries and be ready to finish strong in the last 6 weeks of the regular season.

I agree. Every team needs a bye. This is the latest I can remember them having one. They're about 2/3 through the regular season. I suppose a bye when they were 3-4 would have been ideal at the time, but it worked out in their favor with the Rodgers/Ruggs off-field issues.

Knock on wood, but the Chiefs are the healthiest team in the league. Not many guys need the bye to come back from injury. That said, everyone is banged up after 11 games of full contact. And I need a stress free football weekend. Thanksgiving weekend is the perfect time for that.

Congrats on your "Andy Reid is a horrible football coach" take for the day.

If a team is playing 2 deep safeties, we could line up in our normal spread offense and have Mahomes just throw a quick out to the RB in the flat with no delay and its 7-8 yards.

Those plays are there but we need to learn to keep taking them.

Against Raiders, Vegas D altered in the 2nd half. Think of the Chiefs as a boxer with a deadly right hook. So Raiders kept close to us, and let us jab them in the face for a half. Then they made the mistake of getting frustrated with all the jabs to the face and backed up...then we unloaded on them.

Dallas never altered and it still frustrates us when teams don't let us throw our favorite punch.

Wallcrawler 11-22-2021 11:13 PM

Kelce, Hill, and Hardman needs to hit up Tony Gonzalez and have a week of catch practice on the football launchers.

100 catches, consecutive. Drop one, you're back to 1.

Kelce's gaffe for the INT was his 7th drop of the season. Not sure what's going on with him but if he gets his consistent, reliable hands back, it will make a world of difference.

The drops this year have been absolutely ridiculous across the board.

Something like 6 of Patrick Mahomes' interceptions this year have hit receivers first. It's insane.

Congrats on a pointless, inane response. Keep posting. One day, through sheer volume alone, you may get something semi intelligent and partially coherent out there.

In the meantime though, less people will notice your lobotomy if you wear a wig to hide the scars.

The short/quick passing game is the circuit breaker option whenever the offense stagnates.
