The "poor homeless guy" sets everything in motion. The attorney, while I feel for his wife and kids, was probably the worst of all the actors - greedy scum; twisting the truth of an already bad situation to unsophisticated hand picked jury and turning it tragic by ruining and stealing a person's lifetime of work. While we will never know how much of Jungerman's wealth Pickert was going to personally pocket, we know that it is routine in these types of cases for the fees to start at 60% - given Pickert's client, my guess is that Pickert was taking nearly all of it. As far as Jungerman? No defending his actions, but in his mind, what was he loosing? He had already been ruined. People have been murdered for a helluva lot less.

Weird take.

news was saying he would be guilty but not convicted

I wondered if that had any impact on the lawyers wife getting money from this guy now that he is deceased
