It’s only appropriate our greatest veteran General Patton was born in this day, 1885

I beg to differ.
The greatest gave their lives.

There I was bitching but as it turned out, a snafu by the boss meant I was able to get off at 11

My dad was in WWII. That's him to the right. He drove a tank until the end of the war and received a purple heart. A story he told us was that his tank was hit and the crew had to evacuate. There were Germans everywhere and they laid in a bunker and pretended to be dead. The war had pretty much been won and the Germans knew it. A couple of German soldiers came by. One shouldered his rifle ready to shoot them to make sure they were dead. My dad was German and still had family who spoke the language. He heard the other soldier say "Enough" and they walked on. A little humanity in a brutal time.

Bless them all, whatever their job.
My son retires from the Air Force after 20 years in February. He and his daughter will be here tomorrow deer hunting in the woods out back.
I’m so proud of him and what he’s become.

Fantastic!
