No vitriol from me. I just read your post and remembered you talking about retiring. I don't know the answers to your numbers, but I had a long drive home from Minneapolis today and I had time to think about the things I want to do when I finally retire.

I didn't me vitriol from you.

The responses were quite odd for something innocuous.

You have a good memory. In fact, I got my first SS check on Wednesday.

Still doing engineering work part time.

Trying to inspire young people.

Things like 3X+1 conundrum.

Keeps my mind limber.

The vitriol from an interesting question amazes me.

The SS is sending out checks? I thought they got disbanded after WWII

Your arm should be incredibly painful from that stretch.

At least this is a starting point for discussion.

Thanks for that.

This is an interesting debate.

Does adding integers ever resolve as fractions? They assume it's true.

I got my undergrad in mathematics and I haven't used a lick of it in 20 years. It's shit like this that drove me mad.... like spending a day proving 0.99999999 is 1. I don't remember what class... it was either combinatorics (which is kind of fascinating), permutations, or geometry. I'm good with never touching that shit again in life, honestly. I probably couldn't do basic calculus at this point and I'm totally fine haha. I had a history of math class we actually had to read a book called Fermat's Enigma and do a huge report on the theorem... the one mathematicians spend decades trying to solve... fun stuff.

It’s not

Same here. Was a math major with pure concentration that did all the proofs and complex theories. Loved it then. Can’t add 2 number now.

To summarize this video:
Pure calculation using Zeta functions that the first clearly said they were not going to get into but would try to relay in simplistic terms by doing some manipulation and bypassing all rules. And that's the only way there is any solution to -1/12 is by using zeta functions.
