Chief isn't a Native American word, it's French. In fact, the Native Americans didn't use the word at all except AFTER hundreds of years of contact with Europeans.

Chief just means boss, or leader, or HMFIC if you will. In French.

I don't see any need to change the name.

It was intended to be part of KC's 'royalty' theme for it's sports teams, like Monarchs, Royals, Kings, etc.

I dunno. I find the Tomahawk chop pretty cringe. I'd rather just drop all of that stuff, it's dumb.

Commanders is a solid alternative for the Chiefs name, but the Redskins already took the Commanders name. Lol
