I guarantee you that he won't care that it's supposed to be the "paper" anniversary. Just get him something that you know he likes. It will be much more appreciated than some "paper" thing

my wife and I have been married 11 years now and about midway through we decided to stop wasting money on gifts for each other unless its just something small. Instead we do something big every year. We bought a new bed, bought a house, a nice vacation, etc

I got my wife a couple of these last year. She loved them.
And yeah, we had agreed years ago to not waste money on anniversary gifts. Still, sometimes I just can't pass up a good thing.

This all day. I believe 5 year is the wood. Just tell him he has exceeded your expectations so much you decided to advance him to the wood anniversary.

That's what we're doing this year. It's probably what we'll end up doing each year - just a few days away without the kiddo. We plan to toast each year on our anniversary with the personalized flutes we had at our wedding. I just had the last minute thought of the paper gift with it being our first.

I did consider:

Give him the 3S treatment:

Sex, sustenance, silence.

Buehler445 08-02-2023 01:08 PM

Buy him some higher end beer or booze he wouldn't otherwise buy.

I could never bring myself to care too much about the "thought that counts" kind of stuff.
