No it's not, for all of Mahomes's physical talent, he "needed" that year to sit to not only learn but it created an "immense hunger" in him to perform even better to the point where he did not look like a young QB making bad decisions when he finally got the start his 2nd year.

Does anybody here on this board 'think and feel' while watching his 2nd year(which was really his rookie year of play) he looked too green making bad decisions every other play ????? NOPE !!!!

And the Texas Tech fans said that he had a couple injuries that he needed to heal up from that season.

Yeah, his throwing shoulder was pretty messed up in the 2016 season. He played through it and somehow had that ridiculous 800 yard game against Oklahoma. Believe he also had a broken left wrist in 2016 as well.

One of his knees was jacked up in 2015 and I’m not sure the knee was healthy in 2016. A year on the bench in 2017 was good for his body.

Yes

I will forever hate this QB rating seeking piece of shit. Throw short of the sticks on purpose. Get a nice 11 yard scamper on 3rd and 15. Doesn't want to win football games just appear like he did. ****er should have just gave the keys to the ship to the great one in 2017. This shitstain cost us a Super Bowl on 2017. Scared of throwing interceptions down 14 pts in the 4th quarter little bitch. **** you Alex Smith. Hot wife though

At the time, I just shrugged because of course a veteran player is going to say good things about the rookie quarterback on the bench. But now I know what Travis was seeing in practice.

That is hilarious with the full power of hindsight.

Going the opposite way, I remember there was a report from a practice just before the start of the 2018 season saying Mahomes threw 3 TDs and 7 INTs on the day. I remember being a bit worried about our fortunes…

I see 3/7 as a positive, if you are too afraid to to fail you will never succeed, best way to get better at shot is making mistakes and learning from them .

Everything worked out great, so stop bitching. Maybe the year off was great for his body/mind

This was harsh as ****, but there is some truth within in.

Alex Smith is a great dude, but all of those INT's in SF just made him way too risk adverse. It wasn't until Pat was on his ass for the job that he started playing watchable football, otherwise I was bored to death just hoping our defense would score.

Remember going an entire season without seeing a TD pass to a receiver?

Alex hit alot of deep balls towards the end he had 1 of the highest percentages in the league

I wonder what would happen if Marty McFly jumped in the DeLorean, traveled back to late April 2017, and racked you hard.

What a ridiculous response to a "what if" scenario.

Calm down, sparky.

He had a good 1st half of 2017 when competition from MVPat motivated him to remove his balls from his purse.
