I asked this same question in the game thread because seems to me that would be a TD but understand also after looking at the still replay why they ruled it not a TD.

It should have been a touch down, if a CATCH isn't complete till surviving the ground.. (need this to determine possession) then the player can't be DOWN by contact without possession.

I ask again minions....
TE catches the ball "going to the ground" and touches the pilon before knee hits but loses the ball after hitting the ground. TD?!? |

It is a catch even though the ball hit the ground out of bounds. So it's no different with the ball hitting in the EZ. By your standard two feet in bounds, the ball hitting out of bounds is no longer a catch? |
