But god damn it do I want to see somebody get guillotined. Either Toney, Embree, or Nagy. Or a couple of them.

They're all chumps and they're all easily replaceable. And in Toney's case specifically, I've got the feeling it's going to be addition by subtraction when he finally goes away. And the same could very well be true for the two coaches I mentioned.

I'm not sure Embree needs to be fired, but I think he's in over his head with this particular group of receivers. If he had a stacked WR room like the Bengals or Eagles, the coach's lack of experience would not be so much of a potential liability for the team. So instead of firing him, he needs to be put into a different role like his old job (quality control or whatever it was). Get a legit experienced WR coach to deal with these guys.

Yes, and lose the receiver-by-committee nonsense. Rice and *gag* Watson are clearly the two best WRs on the roster.

I had calmed down about this, but Dan's work makes it so much worse.
1. Refs have to either warn/call earlier or keep ignoring it.
2. How does our sideline go the whole game and never let Toney know? That's nuts!
3. Toney, come on dude, look at the other receiver.

Refs needs a new response now in light of this video!

I have a feeling if you look around the league you'll see WRs on the blue line A LOT. Clay posted a pic earlier from a Rams game that I can't find now because we have 47 threads on this topic.

I'm not a Toney supporter but the vitriol so many people are spewing at the dude is excessive. Especially when you take into account Orlovsky's evidence that he did it all game with no warnings or penalties. Former players have said they try and get as close as possible to the ball for an edge and that's all he was doing here.. with every indication that it had been fine all game.

The mother ****er has cost the team two games this season, thanks to an inability to perform the most basic functions of his job.

That's an odd takeaway. It seems like it's just confirming what Andy was pissed off about - the officials typically warn a player and the HC when a player is getting close to being called for it. Andy wasn't pissed because the call was wrong - he was pissed that the refs didn't do the job he expects them to do. If Toney had gotten a warning on this early in the game, they could have corrected it.

I get the point of view that if he had been doing it all game, the refs should be doing some preventative officiating by giving him, the coaches or Mahomes a heads up about it. I agree with all that. But it's Toney's ultimate responsibility to ensure he's lining up legally by covering the tackle, but not being in the neutral zone. If the guy's spatial awareness is that bad, it's no damn wonder that he can't catch the ball.

Exactly.

AND, it makes we think that the ref knew it and waited to call it when it actually mattered.

When I went to bed last night, the main thing I was wondering about this game was whether or not Toney had been lining up the same way in earlier plays in the game. Orlovsky's remarks confirm what I has suspected. The Chiefs are right to be pissed off about the fact that the refs waited until later in the game to throw a flag. Now, if the refs had in fact warned Toney or the Chiefs before the flag that he needs to line up differently, that would be another thing, but I haven't yet seen any indication that this was the case.

And then you have to wonder why. This is how conspiracies are born. Dee Ford all over again.

Orlovsky completely throws the officials under the bus and rightly so.

How is this the conclusion you arrived at if he's been lining up there the whole near and never called for it????

Toney might be dumb, but if someone is never corrected one time on it then they keep doing it, are they dumb for continuing to do it???

L take
