I went to Baltimore for a child's birthday party a couple of years ago. We had good crab legs, saw an enormous garbage processing plant in town, went to a nice art museum, drove through a neighborhood that intimidated us, and met a child. (It was his first birthday - relative - and that was actually in suburban Maryland rather than Baltimore.)

Thinking about it too, but Vegas is going to be the most expensive Superbowl ever. Crazy prices on lodging and tix. A lot of people want to go to be in Vegas for the festivities and to watch the game on the strip.

I saw the other day that a number of the strip hotels in Vegas have cranked up their fraudulent and unethical "resort fees" again. I think the article said that the average is now $37 per night. So whatever you pay for a hotel, at the end they present you with a surprise additional fee of $37 per night. On pure principle, I will not stay at a hotel that does that.

I'm going.

It'll be my second time there. Last time I took Amtrak from NYC Penn Station to Baltimore Penn Station and then got a ride from there to around the stadium (and I did the reverse that evening after the game). Wasn't too difficult.

This is what a Reddit poster said in response to someone's asking about coming from DC:

Penn Station would be a perfect set for a horror movie.

that's good intel, thanks! The Accela is under 3 hours ride Penn to Penn. You did it all in one day with no hotel overnight? I need to work in the city Monday AM anyways so going back to NYC Penn is convenient if a do a hotel Sunday night, but they are surely not cheap and availability might be tough.

Seems that if i do a Sunday/Sunday train that skyrockets in price anyway so might as well take the long route and maybe get to check out the harbor a little.

Yeah, I made a day trip out of it, but it was a 1pm game and I got out of there quickly afterward (we won). Whereas here if the Chiefs win you’re probably going to want to stick around for the trophy presentation, etc.

The DC Group is planning a tailgate.

If you're paying $10k for the game ticket, does it really matter how much the room is?

They are way more ready for big events, but Vegas is crowded like all the time, so I could see it being pretty difficult to get lodging, because people are going to want to make it an event even without tickets to the game. It's gonna be wild.

My wife's parents live in Vegas.

I'd have a ride to and from the game.

Train then walk and cab if necessary.

I’d rather skip though Baghdad again than walk in Baltimore.

Spend bunch of money to go see the Chiefs win and then be murdered by a Baltimorian

Or save that money and live to see another SB championship

They said lodging is going to be crazy as every year Vegas is a destination for folks to go watch the SB and with the game being there this year, ever more so... I went to the one in Miami, and almost pulled the trigger last year, and regret I didn't, if we go, I will check it out but probably won't go. If I hadn't been to a SB where the Chiefs won already, I would pay anything though.

Well, when you go for a week before it does a little.
