One of my best friends married a divorced woman who had a six year old daughter and they've been happily married for 30 years. If it's love, then it's love.

Dealing with another dude's bullshit for ~20 years?
Pass. I mean the ex, not the kid(s). I'm sure the kid(s) is/are probably awesome more than not. |

There are no perks to dating a single Mom.

A catch? That’s a tough sell and would be highly situation dependent. In general though, no. You can be happy and make things work but it comes with a lot of headaches. The biggest challenge is parenting. Single moms are far more protective of their kids than single fathers and are much more likely to resist integrating the new father as a true equal in parenting, which makes things very challenging with many a barrier and stressor.

Catch and release, maybe.

“Is anyone on CP a catch?” shoulder garner far fewer affirmative answers. |
Sure, as long as she doesn’t have kids.

Being a step parent is one of the hardest and un rewarding jobs there is. Plus the real dad will do everything in their power to sow division between you and the kids.
Then the mom feels bad about raising the kids in a broken household. So is over protective of them and doesn't let you parent. Or let's the kids run roughshod over her. I am sure in some situations it is great. But in others.... Well do you like shards of bamboo sticks shoved under your fingernails. Cause that is what your life is going to most likely be like until the kids are out of the house. |
