Magary was very political, too, even though he was more talented than the writers that followed him.

The original site in the mid-2000s was actually funny and hated on everyone and didn't play any sides. But the site still made sports fun. Deadspin in recent years has made sports as toxic as politics.

Just sayin'

yeah I mean like the whole thing was stupid. like from what I understand the kid is native american and like the unspoken assumption is that he you know... doesn't look native american which is itself pretty ****in racist

If the kid is actually native then his parents need to teach him about his culture. There is a reason Arrowhead banned the headdresses and that’s because they actually took the time to learn about the culture. I work all across the country in Indian Health Services and ask the natives their opinions on the Chiefs name and tomahawk chop and not one of them cares, but the feathered war bonnets are very sacred. They would be offended if a full blooded Native American child that age was wearing that as well. It is essentially stolen valor. It’s like some ANTIFA kid saying Semper Fi to a marine. Just show some ****ing respect to peoples sacred cultures. It shouldn’t be that hard to understand.

yeah sure but like was this story even necessary? like for the sake of argument lets assume the parents dressed their kid up for the sole reason of being as racist as possible and doing it as racistly as they could, like it's still a little kid. a 10 year old doesn't have much say and has like no power to affect anything. like if it was clark hunt's adult child, sure okay blast away. but like it's a little kid, let someone in his tribe explain why he shouldn't do that. deadspin's story was at the same level of "look what this racist facebook grandma posted". people go nuts about this stuff, knowing how the internet has made everyone insane I'm sure this kid got death threats and shit, there's no reason to blast him publicly, let the people who would actually be affected by it handle it, that's all I'm saying

Oh, I completely agree. The only people I know calling for an end to the chop have never been on a reservation in their entire lives. The fact of the matter is that they still have so many issues they deal with on a daily basis like their women disappearing off the reservation in alarming numbers. No one on a reservation has time to worry about an NFL team doing the tomahawk chop.

The parents put the kid in this situation, though. Just own up to being bad parents. Don’t try and make a fortune off your kids misery. Do you think them filing this lawsuit will help people forget about this so the kid can get on with his life? Deadspin can definitely go **** themselves, but let’s not reward the kids parents for being a couple ****ing obtuse morons.

This should be a much bigger story than the original.

Never even hear of Deadspin anymore. This story is the only thing I’ve seen from/about them in the past 10 years. They probably love it.

I doubt any company is going to "love" being sued out of existence. (which they deserve)

See Gawker for reference.

Dude, Deadspin should pay out of their asses and hopefully get shut down for allowing this crap to be published. The stupid bitch, Carron Phillips, should be blacklisted and never have another article published again. First she writes the stupid as shit article and then doubles down by saying the red makes it worse because of Mexicans and sombreros or some shit.

What a dumb bitch.

“She”?

Boy are you gonna be surprised when you google Carron Phillips.

You do you. You can do things like this in your mom’s basement. We don’t care. We just don’t want it at Arrowhead.

Bad news - that was like 8 years ago.

And magary cut his own balls off a couple of years before that even.

Around the time they gave Daulerio the keys, it was over.

H.A. himself is partially Chumash-Indian as his father belongs to the Santa Ynez Bank of the Chumash Indians and works on the tribal reservation. The boy’s paternal grandfather was also a tribal elder, the complaint said.
I think as a Chumash-Indian that the tribe would be the ones who have the right to be offended. And no one else.

I guess you would also have or point out a problem this...
