Justin Reid is always balling out and making key plays, he is invaluable.

Noah Gray, Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey would be my next priority.

Justin Reid isn't coming back unless he takes a significant pay cut.

Humphrey and Gray already signed new deals.

Bl00dyBizkitz 12-30-2024 09:18 PM

More new guys.

This train has been running because Veach continues to bring in rookies/free agents that have some juice and want to win a ring.

I don't really have any specifics other than that.

Molitoth 12-30-2024 09:19 PM

The biggest name that stands out to me is: Trey Smith (G) – UFA

He is my second favorite OL.

:thumb: Thanks! I thought they had but couldn't remember.

This team will really miss Reid if he is gone.

Under no circumstances should we resign him. Unless we can trade Creed, then maybe.

I would try to trade Creed to some dumb running team for a good LT.

Trey Smith will probably get one of the biggest contracts in all of free agency with it being a bad class overall. With the fact he was such a late pick he deserves to get every penny he can earn, he has been appreciated for his efforts but it’s going to be best to move on.

jjchieffan 12-30-2024 10:23 PM

I saw a top 50 free agent list today. Tee Higgins was number 1. Trey Smith was number 2. They are already paying Thuney, Creed, and Taylor big money. No way are they going to be able to pay Trey what he will get. We're probably rolling with Caliendo or the guard that we drafted this year and wishing Trey the best

jjchieffan 12-30-2024 10:27 PM

Also in the top 50, Hopkins at 14, Bolton 34, Brown 36, and Reid 50. Lots of covered players on this team.

Bring back Bolton. We don't have a replacement for him in the pipeline.

Bring back Wharton unless he wants too much. We lack depth at the interior D-Line.

Reid/Smith would be nice to re-sign but probably cannot afford their market value.

Most of these other players can be replaced through free agency and/or draft.

Pretty sure Gray and Humphrey were already signed.

Brown will be back most likely on another 1 year deal. DHop will most likely return as well. JJSS, Hardman Moore, and Watson most likely gone. Hunt most likely returns with Perine as the third down specialist. Chiefs most likely draft a RB with a day two pick as RB is deep this year.

Smith gets resigned as well as Humphries if he shows he still has it thru the playoffs.

Bolton and Wharton resign. Reid is gone Hicks is his replacement. McDuffie gets paid.

Offense needs an infusion of speed. Adding some talent at RB whether through FA and/or the draft is a necessity, most runs being 3-4 yards and a cloud of dust because the RBs either have no vision (Pacheco) or are past their prime (Hunt). The last truly top notch RB we had was Hunt in his early years, taken in the 3rd round. Taking CEH in the 1st was dumb in hindsight, but aside from that the only RBs they've taken since Hunt in 2017 have been Darwin Thompson and Pacheco at the end of the draft. I'm not sure if it just hasn't worked out or if they for some reason have an aversion to RBs on day 2 or the middle rounds, but that should be the sweet spot.

Why does he need to take a significant pay cut? Give him the same deal again. Unlike the Money Badger, he's actually been consistently excellent in that crucial position for the entirety of his contract. He's 27 and just getting into his prime. $10m a year is a bargain.

I'd be happy with all of these.

Well, not Reid leaving - but the rest provided we can afford.

gordonelloyd 12-30-2024 11:41 PM

Top priority obviously has to be the best free agent LT that We can afford unless Humphrey really surprises. We will see how that goes in the playoffs. Giving up a lot of draft capital for a LT like we did with Orlando Brown should also be an option whether it’s via trade or moving way up in the draft.

We will not be able to pay Smith so will need a change at guard but likely already have good replacement options on the roster. We will be more than sat at receiver, even if rice doesn’t fully come back. I expect both brown and Hopkins will be happy to stay here on reasonable contracts same with juju. No one else wanted him. Hope we can get another year out of Kelsey, but if not, gray played very well this year. We should be able to keep our current RB slate, and maybe in the mid rounds try to draft a speedster. Several come up every year, we just haven’t gone after one.

On defense, we should try to resign read and Bolton, but not if they want too much. We can replace both and still have a top defense, and I think our offence is going to be really superb next year. Worthy might make all pro.

Giving Smith a massive deal doesn't seem like a Veach move, and I hope it doesn't happen. Hopefully they can get Hollywood to agree to another 1 year, incentive-laden contract. His injury might help their chances of bringing him back. I'd try to re-sign Omenihu and let Reid walk. I think I'd only sign Bolton if he'll accept a team-friendly deal.
