Multiplayer Game Modes

These Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Game Modes have been confirmed as of now. Will be updated when more information is available.

• Team Deathmatch
  
  Use teamwork to kill enemy players and reach the score limit.
• Free-For-All
  
  No Teams, everyone for himself. Kill everyone.
• Domination
  
  Three flags need to be captured and held for as long as possible. Hold the designated positions to gain points.
• Ground War
  
  Rotating game modes (Team Deathmatch, Domination, ...) with a 18 player limit (on consoles) in stead of 12.
• Sabotage
  
  1 Bomb in the center of the map. Grab it and destroy the enemy objective.
• Headquarters Pro
  
  Capture the headquarters and defend it from the enemy.
• Search and Destroy
  
  Two teams take turns in defending and destroying an objective. Offense will carry a bomb that needs to be planted on either one of the two plant-sights defended by the other teams. On half time teams switch, defense will be offense.
• Capture the Flag
  
  Capture the enemies flag and return it to your teams base to score points.
• Demolition
  
  Defend and destroy both objectives.
• Hardcore Team Deathmatch
• Search and Destroy Hardcore
• 3rd Person Team Deathmatch
• 3rd Person Team Deathmatch Hardcore

It's both a perk AND a death streak.

The base level of the perk is the same as COD4, plus you can now crawl.

The pro level of the perk adds the ability to use your entire loadout while in last stand - rifles, frags, etc.

They took the most annoying perk in the game, made it considerably worse, AND also added it as a death streak. They should have either removed it entirely, or made it only a death streak. It's like they've never played their own game with the public...

Man I used to **** people up with the Airstrike in multiplayer.

Ok. Then I'm stupid. They did make it worse. I wasn't looking at that list of perks.

But, I would assume that unlocking the Last Stand Pro would require you to be at a certain level, but more likely, complete the challenges for Last Stand.

I'm cool with people using Last Stand (I can see how it's going to get annoying with them being able to use grenades), it's usually only the nubcakes using that shit and they're just free headshots.

Last Stand is for pussies. So is Martyrdom. So is Juggernaut.

Seriously...UAV Jammer. If they don't know where you are...and they won't....kills are easier. I used to be a stopping power guy as well, but I found "the Jam" works better.

Not having the jammer on makes me feel naked. Jammer + silencer = cozy wherever I am.

No shit. I love sneaking up behind a sniper and just standing there for a minute. Rub my balls on the back of their head before the easy headshot.

Haha, I know the feeling. Add Dead Silence to that, and you can straight up run up to him without him even having a clue. The best is when you do the headshot and you know he's thinking "WTF did that come from? THERE'S NO WAY!!1"

I run the same, except for the silencer - I use the red dot. I haven't found the silencer to be necessary in hardcore...

I was crushed to find out the G3 isn't in MW2... :(

Dude, whatever trailer that was last night during The Ultimate Fighter, I almost creamed my jeans.

I didn't see it last night, but I think it's this one....

I'm pretty sure thats it too, but my comp at work sucks so I cant watch it for more than like 5 seconds w/out it freezing.

My question is....anyone going to be off on Tuesday? I'm taking a vacation day and gonna sit on my ass all day and play MW2. Try to get through the campaign and then off to MP.

I too was angry to hear they don't have the G3, I can literally use that weapon on every map. Oh well, hopefully there will be something close. My favorite set up goes like this:

For some reason I suck at COD5 on the 360 but I am boss on the PS3, also w/ COD4.

Just givin' ya shit. COD4 - I can effectively use just about any gun on the game. COD WaW - I only like 2 or 3 of the guns and I hate the freakin' snipers. I gave up on the MP on WaW a long time ago.

This is gonna be like GTA4.....im gonna be on the 360 nonstop for like 4-5 straight days.

In COD4 mine was 1.5, but that was after the first 2 months of me owning a PS3 and being a n00b. To start out I was at like 500 Kills and 1600 Deaths, so getting up to 1.5 is pretty impressive, IMO.

IIRC I was around 1.75 or something in COD4.

with Cox and Comcast my KDR was about 1.5.

With Sunflower cable my KDR is about 0.80

I got COD4 while on break and staying at my parents house, terrible connection there, was getting my ass kicked all the time... hated the game, just seemed to laggy and I was getting mauled.

Some, but it's not insurmountable given that everyone is getting used to new maps & weapon/perk layouts.

COD4 - 1.6, I got the game 4 months after launch & got pwned hardcore in the beginning.

Apparently, Activision gave permission to retailers in the NE to sell the game early after some mom-and-pop stores broke the street date. No other regions authorized, though. Nice work, Activision...

I don't really think I'm that good at FPS. I played Halo 3, but I never played Doubles (for whatever reason that was the style that people got to 50 on...how and why, IDK), I just played Team Slayer.

This game is amazing. My wife reserved for me and got a call last night saying we can pick it up. Got it and its freaking awesome. We found out that gamestop said some other store started selling it and Activision said they would do nothing. The store had 4 cases saturday and only had 23 left as of 7:30EST sat night. 3 people in front of me got it and two friends with me got it early as well.

The snowmobile mission is amazing. Climbing up the side of a mountain and then having to drive a snowmobile while shooting is just sick. The graphics look crazy.

I've been watching videos and it seems the killstreak rewards completely dominate the multiplayer. Especially Chopper Gunner...

I wasn't a huge fan of the killstreak rewards in the first game, this looks completely over the top.

Par for the course on most games these days. Making achievements completely impossible for the average gamer.

MW2 is strictly a console game. IW is making a big mistake concerning PC gamers with MW2. The no dedicated servers and no anti-cheat is not sitting well at all.

The petitions put together by PC gamers have been exploding with signatures. A couple hundred thousand have signed so far. That is tens millions of dollars of revenue just lost for IW. Matter of a fact, the whole console crossover idea that has been dominant in developing games has begun to backfire.

DICE jumped on it though saying the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will have dedicated servers and anti-cheats in place. They have acknowledged that the PC gamer has been ignored and are gearing their work towards that. And I can't wait. BBC2 looks ****ing EPIC...
