I doubt he is traded now unless there is a quick settlement and even then teams may not want to touch Watson for a while.
These allegations gain more credibility if the sequence of events outside of the massages can be corroborated. Not saying the women aren't lying but if Watson contacted the first women first, tougher to allege gold digger. At best, one can say opportunist since I doubt Watson is her first multi-millionaire client that she could have leverage on if she was an unscrupulous liar. It will probably take many months for all of this to play out and until that happens, I can't fathom that there is a team out there that would trade for Watson at anywhere near full price. One thing to trade a 2nd or 3rd round pick for someone with legal problems, it is another thing to trade away 3 first round picks. QB is the face of the franchise. |
It's all been one hell of a downhill mudslide for the Texans since 24-0, hasn't it
|
If this goes to a jury even in the Houston area, if those text messages are out there and are how the women suggests, DeShaun Watson is probably going to lose a civil suit. I believe in that scenario, the jury has to just believe the woman more than Watson. 51/49 is enough I believe in most civil suits.
A criminal proceeding where the burden of proof is much higher is a tougher situation to prove but if his text messages come across weird or the messages of someone that may be guilty, DeShaun Watson was a fool not to settle this. But Watson may felt he had no choice but to fight it since if he settled it and it leaked, all of a sudden people would assume it was true. If it is all a made up lie, then I applaud him for not letting someone take advantage of him. |
From the same dumbshit lawyer bringing these lawsuits...
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Tony Buzbee, the attorney who is bringing charges against Deshaun Watson, once put up billboards & asked his “neighbor” Cal McNair, whom he is rumored to be friends with, to draft Jonny Manziel. <br><br>Something tells us the relationship between McNair and Buzbee will be talked about. <a href="https://t.co/JbJhElisuq">pic.twitter.com/JbJhElisuq</a></p>— uSTADIUM (@uSTADIUM) <a href="https://twitter.com/uSTADIUM/status/1372027580048629760?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 17, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> |

Watson says he learned about the lawsuit after the social media post so doesnt know the complaint. But did already get approached about a settlement before the lawsuit was filed, to which he turned down. Wouldnt he kind of have a clue about the complaint if he was asked for settlement money before? |

I can completely see all sides of this being correct, or wrong.
1. I could see this being one girl wanting a money grab and other girls piling on as they see a money train coming. 2. I could see this being the owner/GM being vindictive (I honestly have this as my lowest option as it would seriously hurt his value if you end up having to trade him) 3. I could see this as Watson going way to far. Maybe he had a few massages before and the girl found him attractive and there was consent. Maybe this happened a few times and he came to "expect" it. Maybe he went way to far with a girl that was only there to do her job and he felt he could talk her into more. I will reserve judgement until it plays out but I understand the reactions for everyone. Basically if your crazy rich, just get a massage at the team facilities. Im sure it will be free. If you are horny, rub one out. Too much risk to your career to mess with the random gold diggers. |

This lawyer's approach on these stories is pretty brutal. He may come off as a douche on social media, but he's basically got the media eating out of his hands at this point. Each day, a new story. Each one more cringe-worthy than the last.

I guess Jamaal Charles was one of his first clients and I would like to see the guy be a good agent. But he has Earl Thomas, and Thomas falls apart and gets bounced by the Ravens. (Chiefs dodged a bullet twice on Earl Thomas) And Jalen Ramsey pulls his stunts on the Jaguars and sits out games pretending to be injured. Now Ramsey is amazingly talented, but that was questionable. Things worked out with Rams, so far. Seems like Deshaun Watson and David Mulugheta are trying to be Lebron James and Rich Paul of the NFL and try to bring NBA type player leverage to the NFL and try an unprecedented force a trade by making demands in public a few months after signing one of the hugest AAV contracts ever. David Mulugheta and his clients might do better to be less ambitious and materialistic and pay attention to not getting caught up in stupid shit. Just my opinion. I agree with Deshaun Watson being disappointed in how the Texans have fallen apart, but the public demand for trade me or else was a bad move, especially if vulnerable to off the field stuff at the same time. |
Damn, Deshaun going the extreme route to get out of Houston
|
Really not seeing the Texans’ incentive to frame him. Why potentially hurt his trade value?
And if you don’t trade him, why force your organization to answer for these allegations? And what if the league overreacts and suspends him? They can appeal and win, but that still takes time and creates uncertainty. I can’t see an organization being that dumb. That would be as dumb as an organization making Bill O’Brien their HC and GM. I mean who would do something that ****ing stupid? |

I don't think Watson is going to play this year....
Yikes. |
I'm thinking tomorrow's weekly Friday news dump may have a Commissioner's Exempt List announcement.

They are potentially depressing his trade value for a player who has vowed to sit out and never play for them again. And even if he had a change of heart, he might not even be available to play if he ends up on the league’s exempt list. |

Watson might be smart to just not respond or to have an attorney respond on his behalf.
If Watson says nothing happened, but they actually had consensual sex then he might look guilty. I would assume (and hope) that his legal counsel is carefully reviewing anything and everything he says until this passes. |

Easterby was in kc when they leaked a bunch of personal stories about Todd haley to drive him to quit. To no surprise, the players claim they are constantly being spied on. Deshaun Watson being accused of sexual assault?
So he was bringing in random masseuses to give him a massage? That’s just what he was doing as normal operations? That’s not very smart if so.
Regarding the allegations, they all seem nearly impossible to prove or disprove, which ultimately can only be bad for Watson’s image. |

I haven't really had time to follow this story, other than what I've read here, but it doesn't make sense to me that this is a set up by the Texans. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't put it past the most dysfunctional NFL front office, but:
1. Watson doesn't want to be there, so why wouldn't you try to get something out of him? 2. This only worsens the ability to get that "something" out of him 3. In the event that no deals can be made, do you really want to keep Watson at this point? 4. If the allegations turn out to be true, you're likely either not going to have him anyways... talk about biting one's nose off to spite their face....this would be it! |
